Leonard H. Cohen, C. Jeffrey Cook, Kevin M. Kinne and David E. Valicenti were lead partners in their areas of specialty at Berkshire County's oldest and largest law firm when they decided, effective January 1, 2009, to create a new law firm with offices in Pittsfield and Great Barrington, Massachusetts.

The practice of the new firm is focused in the areas of law in which the partners and other lawyers in the firm have significant expertise. The firm serves clients located primarily in Massachusetts, eastern New York, southern Vermont and northern Connecticut. The firm also regularly serves clients located elsewhere in the United States and handles matters that involved national and international business and litigation issues.

Hired Attorney Michael A. Rivkin

Attorney Michael Rivkin is absolutely amazing. I am dealing with an extremely difficult employment situation and when I felt I couldn’t handle anymore, Michael’s compassion and kindness helped me keep moving forward. If it wasn’t for Michael I would have given up and allowed a lot of illegal actions take place and lose myself along the way. Not only is he compassionate, sincere and understanding, Michael is incredibly knowledgeable, hard working and exceptionally helpful, he responds to you day and night if need be and he really loves what he does and he’s shown me day after day. I wouldn’t want anyone else standing beside me defending me. He shows no mercy when it comes to what he feels is unacceptable and illegal. Michael, I could never thank you enough for everything you have done to help me through this. You have made my unbearable days, weeks and months so much easier. I will never forget everything you have done for me. My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Hired Attorney Kevin M. Kinne

Attorney Kevin Kinne is absolutely amazing. I am dealing with an extremely difficult employment situation. I didn’t feel that I had a case but after reaching to Kevin he made me see that what was being done to me was very illegal. Shortly after speaking with Kevin my situation started to get bad Kevin took immediate action and never backed down. He acted with a calm, professional but stern approach. I knew at that moment no one else could help me better than Kevin. He has been extremely compassionate, sincere and understanding of my situation. He’s knowledgeable in many areas and is exceptionally good at what he does. I wouldn’t want anyone else standing beside me defending me. Kevin, I could never thank you enough for everything you have done to help me through this. You have made my unbearable days and weeks so much easier. We engaged Michael for some business litigation that resulted in a settlement in our company's favor. Michael was thoroughly professional and highly skilled at navigating the complexities of our case. In addition to being thoughtful and resourceful, Michael was highly responsive and efficient, too. As a serial CFO and former private equity investor that has (unfortunately) worked through far too many legal matters, he really impressed and I highly recommend considering his services.

I contacted Mr. Rivkin because I had not been paid for any overtime for over 2 years. Michael was very professional from the start. He said I had a case when other lawyers said I didn't. I decided he was the guy to go to. He was very professional and even though I didn't have a huge case Michael treated me like I was a person not a number and was totally professional from day one. My case moved very quick (I thought it would be a battle for years) but with Michael on my side it was very quick. About 7 months from start to finish. I recomend him to anyone that has a payroll or overtime dispute with their employer. I can't express in words how happy I am that I called him. Oh and the consultation was free which i think most people look for before hiring someone. He has been great always available when I had questions even when he was on vacation and he explained everything to me in layman's terms so it was easy to understand what was going on. Great Job Micheal. Thank you.

I have been working with Michael for about a year. I have zero complaints about him. He is absolutely on top of things and extremely responsive. Whenever I have a case that may turn legal, he makes me feel safe and secure. He 100% supports human rights and doesn't allow anyone to walk all over his clients or intimidate them. Hes absolutely become a family lawyer. You dont find the dedication and interest he has in his clients. He doesnt not provide advice that brings him profit, in fact he looks for the best way for the client to receive money and save money. Apprecaite everything you do for us Michael!

Mr. Rivkin spoke with me and emailed me at length regarding an employment issue I had. In the end, I did not need to hire him. Despite that, he continued to provide excellent and free advice. My situation was causing me a lot of stress. Mr. Rivkin's advice helped me through the situation.

Not only was he compassionate, he was also encouraging and validating through the experience. I so appreciate him for helping me pursue my case.
