If you are from a country other than Mexico, the priority date processing is up to May 1, 2012. You won't be scheduled until your date has been reached. It could be months, or in some situations, years. It all depends on movement of the priority dates.

It is not absolutely necessary for you to wait the entire 10 years. You can still petition for him now, but he will also need to submit a waiver on form I-212 because he was previously deported.
