When will I get my work permit?

Answered by attorney Michael Alexander Yurasov-Lichtenberg (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Havens Lichtenberg PLLC
You are mistaken: as an asylum applicant, you were not eligible for a work authorization until 150 days from the date your asylum application was entered into the USCIS system; if you sent your Form I-765 Employment Authorization application 150 days after filing your asylum application, the normal processing time for Form I-765 is 90 days. So, if everything was done right, you should receive your employment authorization approximately 240 days after filing asylum application. However, if you filed your Form I-765 before 150 days passed from the date of your asylum application, it will be denied and you will have to re-file Form I-765.

It seems that you have your answer. Give it a shot if not, look for a family member or friend to assist. Don't be afraid to ask.

Can my parents sponsor my fiance?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Eric Arden Fisher (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at The Law Office of Eric A. Fisher, LLC
In order to bring your fiance to the U.S., you must first file and obtain approval of a I-129f visa petition from USCIS. If that is approved, the Department of State will require an Affidavit of Support from you. You can have your parents sign another Affidavit of Support as a co-sponsor.
