Is it legal for my wife to take our child?

Answered by attorney Glenn E. Tanner (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Glenn E. Tanner, Attorney at Law
Sure, why not. You could have done the same thing. Did you know where she was? If not, then you might have something, but you apparently did not do anything about it for four months. I assume you're from Washington State and she left Washington State because you posted your question to a Washington State attorney. If it was a different state, you'll have to check there. Lots of parents live in different states. Until you get an order saying otherwise, she can do what she wants or you let her.

What recourse do I have if my ex-husband decided to stop paying alimony?

You can move to have him held in contempt, but if he has no money, the court will not order him to do something he cannot do.

How can I get an uncontested divorce?

Divorce lawyer at Peyton & Associates
To get a divorce, you must file papers with the court and have your husband served. Once that happens, the case will proceed even if he doesn't agree to sign papers.
