How will bankruptcy affect our assets?

Answered by attorney Anerio V. Altman
Bankruptcy lawyer at Lake Forest Bankruptcy
The collectors can sue your husband and come after your combined assets. Either you settle with them or prepare to deal with an eventual lawsuit. You don't necessarily have to pay the full amount of the debt, you can settle for less, but your husband is very likely to get sued, and your family assets could be affected.

Unplanned medical bills are the number one reason in my office that clients choose to file bankruptcy. You can receive counsel from almost any bankruptcy attorney for free to help you decide whether filing under Chapter 7 will resolve your financial difficulties.

Technically it is allowed, but I do not recommend it. There are some issues, but they tend not to come up.
