Is there any recourse for paying fees to a Company and finding out they are not non-profit?

It depends on the terms of your contract with the company, but it sounds as though you might have a cause of action against the company.

I have sold my house and I will have $49,000 in equity will the trustee of my Chapter 13 take this equity to pay debts?

William H Nebeker
Answered by attorney William H Nebeker (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Havens Law, LLC
Most likely the trustee will take the equity. This money will probably be considered disposable income and taken to pay off your creditors. You should seek the advice of an experienced bankruptcy attorney about how to best proceed.
