Every applicant for naturalization is given 2 opportunities to pass the exam with each application that is filed. The applicant can get a third opportunity if he/she files an appeal on form n-336 and pay the filing fee of $650. Since the fees for an appeal and a new application ($680) are nearly the same, it may make better sense to just file a new application. There are no limits on how many times a person can apply for naturalization as long as he/she meets the eligibility requirements.

An EPO-001 emergency order of protection in California apparently can be issued by a law enforcement officer if he or she believes that protection is immediately warranted. The length of time allowed is seven days given that it is not issued by a judge. Such would not appear to be capable of affecting your immigration status. However, any further altercations with your ex-girlfriend could lead to immigration consequences. It may be relevant. If you file a joint petition and are living separately, there's a good likelihood of denial. Better to be divorced, oftentimes, and to file a I-751 waiver case on your own.
