Does a person with a green card looses the right to travel to USA if he has lived outside the country for a long time?

Answered by attorney Jan Joseph Bejar
Immigration lawyer at Jan Joseph Bejar A Professional Law Corporation
A resident alien who departs the US for a year or longer abandons his status as a resident under the law.  However, many people have actually returned with their cards and have not been questioned.  If they return and are able to enter, they may be able to resume residency in the US.  If not, then they will need to reapply through your sister or whatever other mean as are available to them.

Can my boyfriend become legal without being deported?

Answered by attorney Solomon O. Kanu
Immigration lawyer at Kanu Associates, P.C.
Yes. It depends on how long he has been here, whether he has any child born here etc. The best thing to do is to sit down with a lawyer that does both Criminal law and Immigration law like me and we will hash the issues out in a very clear and simple way.
