How will my divorce affect my immigration status?

Answered by attorney Louis M. Piscopo
Immigration lawyer at Law Offices of Louis M. Piscopo, APLC
If you live in the U.S. you can divorce your wife. You have to follow the rules of the state in which you live regarding serving a spouse who does not reside in the U.S. You should seek the advise of a family law attorney.

How much it will be take time to bring my husband in the US since I’m a green card holder and will be a citizen in five months’ time?

Answered by attorney Francis John Cowhig (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Francis John Cowhig
Once you are a U.S. citizen it should take approximately 1 year, give or take a few months. I strongly suggest that you contact an experienced immigration attorney for a face-to-face consultation and give him/her all of the facts surrounding your situation. He/she would then be in a better position to analyze your case, advise you of your options and make sure that the necessary paperwork and documentation is presented so as not to delay the process.

10 year deportation bans can be lifted through an application and depending upon what you were deported for can be easily obtained. Call my office to schedule a consultation and we can go over this.
