How long do I have to give her $1000 every month?

Answered by attorney Loren Paul Zahn (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Zahn Law Office
File a Response. Support will likely be for 2 1/2 years at most (short term marriage=support for half the length of the marriage). Just because she is requesting support at $1,000 per month doesn't mean she is entitled to it. I suggest hiring an attorney to assist you, especially with you living in another state.

If I was never married by civil law and I only got religious marriage from catholic church in Mexico, can my partner file for divorce?

An issue that may need to be determined is whether the religious marriage is recognized as a legal marriage under Mexican law. If the marriage is legal under Mexican law then it would be considered legal in California.
