What happens to my wife's personal property in a divorce?

Answered by attorney Robert Andrew Michael Burns (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Office of Robert Burns
Here abandoning you is legally irrelevant. Her suspected abandonment of her personal property needs to be clarified. Get her views on that in writing (e.g., E-mail).

If I have a prenuptial agreement where I was married, does that still apply in another state since I get divorced there?

The only answer that I can give you is that it should apply, but you need an attorney in the other state to answer fully.

How can I find out if we are divorced?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Joanna Marie Mitchell (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Joanna Mitchell & Associates, P.A.
Check with the clerk of court in the county where he resides and in the county where you reside and in the county where you last resided together as husband and wife. If nothing has been filed in any of those counties, then you most likely are not divorced and should consult with an attorney as to how to best proceed.
