How do I file for divorce if my husband is in prison in Colorado?

Answered by attorney Dennis J Woods (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Woods and O'Keefe
You do it exactly as you would if he lived in the same house. I don't think you've actually hired a lawyer yet. Let him handle it. This does not seem like something you're likely to do right and it will get very expensive to undo what you may have done!

How do I get a divorce when my husband's in the military?

Answered by attorney John F Brennan (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Musilli Brennan Associates, PLLC
It is very doubtful you will be awarded spousal support. He will not be obligated to pay any child support for children which are not his. You can file and receive a divorce regardless of the fact that he is in the military (though there may be special rules). Sounds like you need to learn to drive and get a steady job.

If I'm a house wife on disability, am I entitled to receive money from my husband after divorce?

There are several factors that a court must consider in determining whether to award a spouse alimony/spousal support, and if so, what type or combination of alimony/spousal support, what amount(s), for how long, etc. Among these several factors are things like the length of the marriage, the lifestyle of the parties during the marriage, the past and current employment situations of each party, the health and education of each party, and other factors. You should consult with a family law attorney who can evaluate your situation and discuss the facts of your case with you.
