What kind of punishment are we going to get for taking $10 worth of ice cream?

J Matthew Catchick
Answered by attorney J Matthew Catchick (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Catchick Law, P.C.
You could potentially be charged with the Felony of Larceny from a Building, so I would kindly but strongly recommend you and your parents retain a Criminal Defense attorney, to ensure the least amount of damage is done to your juvenile record. Considering you only took $10 worth of ice cream, your lawyer should have a good shot at keeping your record clean. I wish you all the best of luck.

What can I do if I was accused of a crime that was found to be false?

Answered by attorney Jason William Savela
Criminal Law lawyer at The Savela Law Firm, P.C.
Seal the record from public view. Forms at Colorado Supreme Court website request the accuser be charged with false reporting . Contact the DA sue the accuser, the police and the DA - but this gets more difficult unless the police and DA had good reason not to believe the accuser.

If you have a criminal charge and hope to do anything besides take a guilty plea for strict sentencing you certainly should have a lawyer. Criminal court is no place to be without counsel to protect your rights.
