What will my punishment be for getting caught with weed, Xanax and a scale?

Criminal Law lawyer at R. Jason de Groot, P.A.
The punishment is just one aspect of the criminal case against you. It appears that you will be lucky just to be charged with possession of the weed and the Xanax, both are felonies, and the punishment might be up to 5 years for each, but could be more depending upon how you are charged. You might be charged with possession with intent to distribute on each. You say that they have probable cause, and that might statement might be a big mistake, it takes an attorney to review all of the facts and circumstances and even do research into the issues within your case. Get one now, before it is too late.

It depends on the area where you are being charged - in my area, I would charge at least $5000 retainer.

This normally would indicate that your lawyer is asking to be relieved from your case and no longer represent you.  You should appear at the hearing and let the judge know if you agree or disagree with your lawyer dropping you.
