Hope Law Firm P.L.C. is a law firm established in 2003 with an office in West Des Moines, IA. At this office location, there are 7 lawyers practicing divorce law, child custody, child support and 38 other areas of law.
I was told the my divorce would cost around 2500$ if there were issues. I put down a 1500$ retainer. There was a retainer filed then decided not to get a divorce so there was a simple sheet to sign with the court to file to cancel the petition. For those 2 things along with a couple emails and phone calls cost me 1500$ minus 68$. If I would have went through with the divorce it would have cost me double. They do NOT want to give any money back and will over charge you for there services.
A cautionary tale if you are considering hiring Jennifer Russell of Hope Law Firm. If you are a father who loves your children and has done nothing wrong other than anger your spouse, then seek help from anyone else. Jennifer never spoke to me despite me asking over and over to talk with her regarding my case. Jennifer took about 15 mins the day before court to tell me everything looks good. In reality, at the hearing, it was blatantly obvious that Jennifer was not prepared and fumbled through her defense of the accusations and lies being told by the other attorney. It was obvious that the other attorney had spoken with her client while Jennifer had not taken the time to understand the evidence of my spouses deceit that I provided let alone to understand from me what my ex may have been telling their lawyer so she could counter argue appropriately. Avoid at all costs, especially if you are a father.
For the sake of you and your children, find any other law firm because this one will in fact leave you with the complete opposite of any Hope. My divorce of a marriage lasting less than a year and a half transpired from me being assaulted (with my ex currently having criminal charges of domestic abuse/assault with injury and child endangerment), my child being kidnapped, federal offenses and multiple felonies (violations of court orders) taking place throughout, all of which I have audio, video, and photo proof of. Theft, harassment, and manipulation also consumed my life to all I have been told “It is what it is”. Over the course of the last year and a half (Yes, my divorce has lasted longer than my marriage did.) I have consulted with other lawyers while seeking new representation, county attorneys, advocates, case workers, state officials, therapists, and other Hope law firm hirers, collectively, all are in complete disbelief and disgust with how my case was/is being represented.
He could not have cared less. We barely spoke about my case and if we did it was because I asked to meet with him. Incompetent does not begin to describe this pathetic excuse for a lawyer. My court appointed attorney ran circles around this clown. Please, please, please...if you love your kids and value your money, do not hire this piece of garbage person.
Charlotte agreed to represent me in a divorce and I must say that it was the worst experience in my life during a hard time. She claimed to missing court dates on her children using her business laptop deleting my emails which resulted in sanctions on myself leading to massive fines. She also claimed that their servers went down a total of 3 times as to why she was not able to respond to my emails. Charlotte really screwed me over and cost me thousands of dollars. This is a warning to all that she is not out to help you out rather than take your money doing the absolute minimum to help you out. She did apologize and said she would make it up to me by completing the paper work for the other attorney when it came to them claiming my retirement. Which with my new lawyer were made to complete themselves as they are the ones getting the money. She is extremely shady and full of excuses. Nice person but full of excuses, also realize your data is not protected letting her children use her lap
Horrible. Danni Harris is a joke. Never called, never finished what she said she would and way over billed.Nobody at the Ankeny office when I would try to pay. Danni has went through 4 assistants since the start of my divorce. Finally got one that would respond and take care of me and she either got fired or quit. I can see why. Charged me for a ton of stuff I know couldn't have taken as many hours as she said it did. Too expensive for horrible service. Never again.
Never got back to my daughter about the case or if they would take it then it took 3 weeks for them to return paperwork. Danni was basically just looking for big money cases rather than rights against sexual harassment. What a waste of our time. Literally took over 3 weeks for them to put one paper in the envelope and have ready for us to pick up. Sad firm.
Andrew cost our family $43,333.33. I called to talk to him about the matter, his exact words, " I don't have time to listen to you whinn when I have paying customers in the lobby". Stay away from him, all he cares about his is cut off the money.
