Eric Alan Berg founded the private law firm now known as Berg and Associates in 1990, with offices in Redding and Chico. During the ensuing years, he has diligently and aggressively represented defendants in a wide variety of criminal law cases, such as marijuana cultivation and possession for sale, child molestation, rape, grand theft, fraud, drink driving, spousal abuse, and murder. He has also been active in civil matters, such as divorce and child-custody proceedings.

Berg is a member of both the State Bar of California and the American Bar Associations. In addition, he has met the exacting standards of the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization to be named a Certified Criminal Law Specialist. His law firm, Berg and Associates, has been a leader in medical marijuana patients' rights and has been involved in ground-breaking cases related to the use of this medicine.

Mr. Berg is ALL about money and extracting as much of it as possible. One tactic he uses I'd characterize as the shell game, keeping you guessing at how much it costs and keeping you unaware of how much it's adding up. I told him in the beginning what I had to work with and he would not give estimates as to what it would cost. Eventually I found I was way over my head costing me thousands more than I could honestly afford... Ask around off the record, I'm not the first to have this happen.

Stay far away from this law office. They falsify charges, they try to slip huge bills past you and when you called them on it all of a sudden they’re able to reduce your bill by thousands of dollars. That is the first sign that you are working with a thief. Sam the Office Manager is the most unprofessional, dishonest and conniving Office Manager in a law firm that I’ve ever encountered. The guy never shows up to the office on time, my wife waited 45 minutes for him to show up to a meeting to discuss her bill and these exuberant charges that were being charged to her retainer. On top of that they tried to charge my wife a fee for the office manager’s time to adjust her bill from overcharging her! This is not made up. When you approach the Office Manager and the practice with issues regarding accounting or your retainer, they are all very cryptic and protecting of exposing these bad practices. All of a sudden no one‘s ever in the office, everyone’s in a meeting, no one returned you call
