How can I go about a neighbour who filed a false police report against me?

David F. Stoddard
Answered by attorney David F. Stoddard (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at The David F. Stoddard Law Firm
I'm not sure what you are asking "How can I go about a neighbor.". I do not know if you are asking what you can do about it, or if you meant to ask how can I go about suing the neighbor. I think filing a complaint for a false report may be a start. Law enforcement may take action against her. Which should be enough. If that doesn't work, you could sue her for slander, but it seems hardly worth it. It doesn't appear that you have much in the way of damages. There often is no remedy for being falsely accused of a criminal or civil violation. Sometime, you just have to live with it.

If she has renters insurance go after that. You can also bring in the landlord as a party if you can show they had knowledge of the potentially dangerous conduct.
