How much would my personal injury case be worth?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Gary Lee Platt (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Gary Lee Platt
The answer to your question involves a lot of facts and circumstances which are not in your question. Any lawyer (or anyone else, for that matter) who claims to be able to answer this question as you stated it, without an in-depth analysis, is either lying to you or doesn't know what he/she is talking about. No lawyer will agree to answer this question properly without first knowing a lot of additional facts (exactly how the accident happened, the makes/models of the vehicles involved, witnesses, the exact nature/extent of your injuries, how much medical treatment you have had/will need in the future, how much are the medical bills for treatment you have had and how much will future medical treatment cost, who gave you the treatment, and whether a medical expert will testify as to the need for future treatment and what your long-term prognosis is). Thus, the best thing you can do for yourself is go shopping for a good lawyer, interview at least two different ones (from different firms), ask good questions, listen carefully to what they tell you, and then, after you hire one, he/she will tell you APPROXIMATELY what your case might be worth.

Why would I have to pay my insurance money back for a medpay?

Answered by attorney Paul Alan Samakow (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at The Law Offices of Paul A. Samakow, P.C.
I assume your lawyer handled all of this correctly. Your "settlement" includes the medical bills. They get paid from the settlement funds that the other guy's insurance gives you as a total settlement.

I am a US citizen I live in Canada with my wife who is Canadian if I buy a house should I put it in my name only?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Fred Lung-Kee Fong (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Law Office of William S. Lindheim
Your question is a loaded one. My first question is where is the house located? Is it in California which would then be subject to CA's community property laws. Is it located in British Columbia, Can. or another province? If it is in B.C., then it will be classified as a "family asset." If the house is in Quebec, then it is an entirely different system. It also depends on the reason why you want it in your name only. In CA, merely because you put it in your own name only does not prevent the wife at the time fo dissolution from getting her fair share. If you are buying for tax purposes, then it will depend on whether you are filing as a single or jointly? Without more info. I can not assess your situation.
