Can the other driver sue us for damages given that my daughter was driving without a license?

No In Michigan property damage is covered by the No Fault Act. The most re could request is under the "mini - tort" provisions of the no fault law which caps the most the other driver can claim for property damage is $1,000.00. He must look to his own insurance carrier for any other coverage over the $1,000 for his vehicle. Assuming your car had coverage, that would be paid by your insurance carrier. The fact your daughter's license lapsed should not impact your insurance coverage.

Make sure the damage is paid. Fines are up to the judge. If the damage is paid the judge may give you a small fine and costs.
