How long would be the charge for a hit and run resulting in death?

Jared Clayton Austin
Answered by attorney Jared Clayton Austin (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Austin Legal Services, PLC
Was alcohol or drugs involved? If so, that is a serious felony involving years of prison time. More facts are needed before a more accurate answer can be given. Also, it will depend on whether or not he has a prior record.

Who gets the money from the insurance of the car accident?

Paul L. Whitfield

If there is a lien the insurance company will always put the lienholder on the check. If you still owe the lienholder give him the check and stop the posturing. If the lien is paid in full, sue the rascal in small claims court

What happened to my settlement?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Gregory M Janks (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Gregory M. Janks, P.C.
You should be able to find out from your lawyer what the status of your settlement is. If your lawyer will not respond, you may file a Grievance with the State Bar of Michigan in regard to the lawyers lack of contact/explanation. Perhaps the insurer will advise you of the status, although they generally won't talk to someone that has legal representation. There may also be some documents in the court file that allow you to determine what is what. You should try all of the above avenues. You may also see if you can find another lawyer to make some inquiries for you, but you may have to pay an hourly rate for such a lawyer.
