Can I get a separate attorney for a consortium?

James Peirce Kelaher
Answered by attorney James Peirce Kelaher (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Kelaher Law Offices, P.A.
You certainly can, but why would you want to? I'd discuss it at length with the attorney handling the case before you go out and hire another attorney.

Advice on litigation/filing a claim with possible outcome.

Barry Alan Salzman
Answered by attorney Barry Alan Salzman (Unclaimed Profile)
Personal Injury lawyer at Barasch McGarry
Hi. This is Barry Salzman, a partner at Barasch McGarry Salzman & Penson. I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriend's mom. There are really 2 issues here. One is whether there is a viable personal injury/wrongful death claim and the other is whether your girlfriend and/or her family has any recourse with the government's decision to drop the charges against offending driver. I can try to address both but need additional information. I invite you to contact me at 212 385-8000 or email me at barry@personalinjuryjustice.com.

If I have a judgement against a couple for personal injury, how do I go about putting a lien on their house?

Answered by attorney Dustin Douglass Deissner
Personal Injury lawyer at Deissner Law Office, P.C.
If you actually have a judgment, that acts as a lien against any real property owned by the judgment debtor. They will be unable to clear title (sell) without satisfying the lien. To actually foreclose the lien and force sale of the house, you need to go through a lot of hoops.
