Mr. Shive is knowledgeable, responsive and reputable, particularly amongst other attorneys. However, he failed to order discoveries through the court on my ex-husband and had a one way approach to solving my issue. He is expensive, seems to lack empathy and did not get results for me. It seems to me he is successful in part because he quickly drops those cases he is not in support of or that are not easy for him.

Cassie Kruse charged me over $14k from spring 2018 - spring 2020. I only met with her in office ONCE. The bulk of my bill was EMAILS. At the time I was making $11hr, and needed representation for my paternity affidavit being overridden by a guardianship. At the onset, Cassie suggested I sign a waiver to conflict of interest with Families First. As time passes rather than requesting a final hearing, Cassie Kruse seemed to sway with Families First agency by requesting more demands from the already non compliant opposing party, and the GAL only made ONE house visit in the course of 2 years! I believe my parental rights were distorted, disregarded and not safeguarded. Winter 2019, Cassandra drew up a motion, that I attempt to safely pick up my child during a 15 minute work break that included highway travel. It was unreasonable. The lawyer refused to request a final hearing, and ultimately asked to be released from a $6700 bill by the Court due to financial hardship.

I hired Megan Peterson Derby, and a custody case and I didn’t have her as an attorney, but for three weeks before I fired her and got another attorney that would represent me and actually fight for my child. Megan was very unreliable and told me that she don’t think she could do a much better job than my public defender could. She didn’t even try to put up a fight didn’t file any motions didn’t even correct the preliminary order. She did absolutely nothing for me and I wouldn’t recommend her to anybody. If you’re looking for a good lawyer, I recommend you to go to Angela Trapp. She’s awesome and will really fight for you in the courtroom when lose or draw but you’re most likely gonna win with Angela on your team!
