How long do I wait to get the notice of fingerprinting?

Answered by attorney Alan Lee
Immigration lawyer at Alan Lee Arthur Lee, Attorneys at Law
You would usually have to wait about one month after the application to receive a notice of fingerprinting. The notice would be mailed to the address indicated on your application. You would be invited to go for biometrics processing (fingerprints and photograph) at a local application support center of USCIS. If you live in Los Angeles, you would be asked to attend your biometrics appointment in the city near your residence. Can marrying an illegal affect a court case?

Answered by attorney Francis John Cowhig (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Francis John Cowhig
This is a difficult question to answer without further details. If you marry him it may be possible to adjust his status before the Immigration Judge, depending on many factors too numerous to list in this email. I strongly suggest that you contact an experienced immigration law attorney, with experience in removal/deportation matter, for a face-to-face consultation and give him/her all of the facts surrounding your boyfriend's case. He/she would then be in a better position to analyze the case and advise you of your boyfriend's options. I cannot tell you how this will affect your wish to join the Navy and suggest you speak to a Navy Recruiter about that before you make any decision.

It sounds like you have a case. There are a lot of women's shelters and pro bono programs that will help you prepare papers if you cannot afford an attorney!
