How long before I can sponsor someone after I get my green card?

Answered by attorney Louis M. Piscopo
Immigration lawyer at Law Offices of Louis M. Piscopo, APLC
You can petition your husband immediately once you receive your Green Card. Depending on what country he is from, it will take 3 to 6 years for his priority date to be current so he can immigrant to the U.S. I assume that you were not married to him before you received your Diversity Lottery visa and that is why he did not apply with you?

How can I get a green card?

Immigration lawyer at Simvisa
In a case like this its important to at a minimum, consult with an immigration attorney to review both parties criminal background as well as other factors. Generally speaking, a U.S. Citizens crminial background is not a factor in the filing of a petition on behalf of his or her spouse, but there are some exceptions.

My wife was illegal in the USA for four years do I have a chance brings her to USA?

Your question requires an attorney consultation. It is not a simple question that can be answered on this type of forum. There are many factors that would need to be considered and evaluated. Since we do not have all the facts, it is impossible to give a completely accurate answers. Are you a U.S. citizen or a green card holder? Where is she now? Does she have any criminal history? Was she ever deported or placed in removal/deportation proceedings? I am assuming that she entered without inspection and will have to go through consular processing.
