If I am unemployed for a very long time and using my savings, how do I sponsor spouse for a Green Card?

You can still sponsor your spouse, but will need someone to be a co-sponsor for him to get approved.

I have an I-130 application through my brother but I'm thinking of applying through my fiancé by f2 spousal instead, will it render them both invalid

Once you marry your fiance she can apply for you. You may want to think about applying for a fiance visa if you want to come to US and marry.

Can I travel outside of the US while waiting for my I-130 to be approved?

If your husband is a US citizen, I would suggest you do a one step adjustment of status application; it's much more faster than filing the I-130 alone. As an immediate relative you are eligible to adjust status immediately and that is why you can file the I-485 at the same time. So I would suggest you file the I-130, I-485, I-131 (advance parole travel document), and I-765 (work permit), medicals, proof of bonafide marriage, etc. Once you file all these documents, you will likely receive your work permit and travel document within 3 months and marriage interview within 6 months. You would use your travel document to re-enter the US. If you attempt to re-enter on your F1 visa, you will run into the issue of "immigrant intent" and misrepresentation. I would not suggest you attempt to re-enter on your F1 once you have filed your adjustment application; use the advance parole travel document. Consult with an immigration attorney to guide you through this process so you make no mistakes along the way.
