Can a lottery winner gain legal status?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Michael Alexander Yurasov-Lichtenberg (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Havens Lichtenberg PLLC
The honest answer is "No". If you are in the U.S. without a legal status, there is no program for changing it through an investment or a business enterprise. Depending on details of your case (how and when did you come to the U.S., your country of origin, age, education, family status, etc.), there might be a solution to your problem, but you should discuss these matters in the privacy of an attorney's office, not on-line.

Can my mother petition to change my B1-B2 visitor and file for a green card?

Answered by attorney David Nabow Soloway
Immigration lawyer at Kennedy, Nalepa & Soloway, P.C.
Generally a U.S. citizen is able to petition for an unmarried son or daughter in the Family-based First Preference visa category, and for a married son or daughter in the Family-based Third Preference visa category. There is a backlog for visas in these categories, and the amount of backlog depends both on the category and the nationality of the son or daughter.

Can my mother file for me if I am 31 years old?

Answered by attorney David Nabow Soloway
Immigration lawyer at Kennedy, Nalepa & Soloway, P.C.
Significantly more information is needed in order to answer your question. That information includes, for example, your mother's immigration status (is she a U.S. citizen?), your own immigration status, your immigration-related history, etc. There really is no substitute for engaging an immigration attorney who, after learning all of the relevant information, could advise about eligibilities, options and strategies.
