Can a 17 year old apply for my citizenship?

Answered by attorney David Nabow Soloway
Immigration lawyer at Kennedy, Nalepa & Soloway, P.C.
Congratulations and best wishes upon your marriage. Assuming that your wife is a U.S. citizen she may sponsor you in an Adjustment of Status application process by which you will seek to become a Lawful Permanent Resident (to get a "Green Card") in the Immediate Relative visa category. Only after being a Permanent Resident for three years (and married to a U.S. citizen, otherwise five years) will you become eligible to apply to become a Naturalized U.S. citizen. Improperly prepared or inadequately documented application packages can result in substantial delays or even more harsh consequences. Especially since you and your wife appear to be less than fully familiar with immigration laws and application processes, it would be wise for you and her to work with an immigration attorney.

If I plan to join other companies, can I ask them to sponsor my green card in EB1 category?

Answered by attorney David Nabow Soloway
Immigration lawyer at Kennedy, Nalepa & Soloway, P.C.
For eligibility in the EB1 category, the employer itself, the actual job and the employee him/herself must meet qualifications, and your question does not provide enough information to supply a full legal analysis about eligibility. There really is no substitute for you and a representative of your employer(s) to consult with an immigration attorney who, after learning all of the relevant information, could advise about eligibilities, options and strategies to attain your goals, and who then could offer legal representation in the often complex application process.

Can I keep my house in the US if I have an illegal status?

Answered by attorney Kiran Kutty Nair (Unclaimed Profile)
Immigration lawyer at Right Choice Law
Having property in the US whether illegal or legal is a good thing. Government should not take your property. If anything, if your caught for having illegal status, the fact that you have property, may help your case.
