Can I get charged for DUI without being pulled over?

Answered by attorney Cindy Mannon (Unclaimed Profile)
DUI/DWI lawyer at Cindy Mannon, Attorney at Law
I have never heard of this. Did a police officer give you a ticket? Were you given a pbt? Were you taken to the police department and given another breath test to see if you were intoxicated. If not, something is seriously wrong. I would still hire a local attorney in your area to represent you.

What if I was arrested on DUI but the judge later charged me with BUI?

Huh? The judge changed the charge from DUI to BUI, which means you were in the boat when you were too impaired. Alcoholics are always looking to put the blame on someone else.

I had a bench warrant that I posted bail on. Will court cost and fines be taken out and can I be jailed still?

If found guilty, or if you get a plea bargain, yes, fines and costs will be taken out of the bond, as long as the bond money comes from you, meaning "in your name." If someone else posted bond, they will not use this money unless the person goes to court and tells them that the money can be used for your court costs and fines. As for jail, that is unknown, as I do not know what you are being charged with, your prior criminal record, if any and what the prosecutor will offer you and more.
