After I divorce can I keep my ex-husband last name and if re-married can I still keep my ex-husband last name?

Answered by attorney Joanna Marie Mitchell (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Joanna Mitchell & Associates, P.A.
If you marry, you do not have to take your new husband's last name. If you do take his last name and later divorce, you can keep that last name if you prefer. For example, my last name, Mitchell, was my first husband's last name. I have since remarried and divorced again, but chose to keep Mitchell as my last name.

How do I report financial dispute when the military isn't allowing me too?

Answered by attorney Robert E McCall (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Law Office of Robert E. McCall
If you are married and have a Dependent ID card you are eligible for legal assistance from the nearest military base. If the commander is blocking communication or declines to communicate at all you need to make a complaint to your member of Congress. She is receiving a housing allowance based on being married. She has a duty to provide support to you as her spouse. If she claims the commander issued an order of non-support put that into your congressional complaint. That is an illegal order.

How long after a divorce would one have to wait to get remarried?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Ronald L Bornstein (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Ronald Bornstein, Attorney at Law
There is no minimum time frame before one can get remarried following a divorce. However, it is generally recommended that you wait at least thirty (30) days from the entry of the final judgment to allow the period for each party to file an appeal to expire. Consult with an attorney to discuss the specifics of your situation and your options.
