First of all, you need to go see an attorney. You have a long term marriage and should speak with an attorney face to face so that the attorney can learn the facts and tell you what needs to be done.

What she needs to do is get an attorney and file for divorce. Perhaps it can be an uncontested divorce which is relatively quick and easy if the parties can agree upon all of the issues.

How can I get divorced if my wife and I live in two different states?

Answered by attorney Sabina Tomshinsky
Divorce lawyer at Home Town Law, P.A.
In order to file for divorce in Florida, one of the parties must have resided in the State for at least six months prior to the filing of the Petition for Dissolution. So if you have resided in Florida for at least 6 months, you may file for divorce in Florida and then have your wife served. Good luck.
