It depends on how long you've lived in Ohio.? Generally you have to have lived in your new state for six months before the jurisdiction to grant you a divorce follows you from the old state to the new.

Does the petitioner in a divorce have to be at the court hearing or can someone with Power of Attorney go in their place?

Robert Jensen 'Bob' Matlock

A power of attorney does not give you permission to testify as to facts known to your son. There are federal and state statutes that relieve military personnel from court appearances due to their service obligations. I suggest you hire a lawyer.

How long do you have to be married to someone to obtain their house that’s only in their name?

Answered by attorney Lucio Antonio Montes (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at The Montes Law Firm
If the house is in the boyfriend's name and he had it before the marriage, it is considered separate property. She may be able to kick him out for a short period of time, but in the end the house will return back to the owner. Upon divorce she may have a claim for reimbursement, but that is not likely to happen if she is only married to the guy a short period of time. She will not be able to marry him, kick him out and then keep his house.
