How can I help with a divorce?

He can have her served by publication but he has to have a search done first. I suggest getting an attorney to help, as it can be a confusing process.

Do I have to appear in Oregon Court if I live in CA to respond to the petition of Dissolution?

To give you lawyer-like answer, that depends. If you have never lived in Oregon, for instance if you and your spouse separated and he or she moved to Oregon, stayed here for six months and then filed the dissolution, the Oregon court would only have jurisdiction to grant the dissolution but would not have jurisdiction to allocate marital property or award spousal support. (If you have kids that the other spouse brought to Oregon for that six-month period, the court would also have the authority to award custody but not parenting time or child support under the UCCJEA.) On the other hand, if you used to live in Oregon with the spouse that filed the dissolution, the Oregon court would likely have jurisdiction over all aspects of a normal dissolution including child custody (if the kids stayed in Oregon), parenting time, child support, spousal support and the division of marital property (but other factors can come into play on this issue). You really need to consult with a lawyer who is licensed in Oregon to explore the jurisdictional issues. If you are in California, you can contact the State Bar referral service to find a lawyer who is licensed in both states.

Can I get spousal support since my husband is getting SS disability now?

Answered by attorney Anne Barbara Howard (Unclaimed Profile)

You can still get a CA divorce but it doesn't sound like there's much money to get support from. Depends on a lot of factors including how much you are making. If you file in CA the hearings would be here. Talk to an AZ attorney also.
