What are steps in divorcing my deported husband if he's agreeable to everything?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Eric Kent Johnson (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Utah Family Law LC
As long as you and your husband meet the residency requirements to confer jurisdiction upon the courts in Utah to grant you a divorce (meaning that you and your husband had to have lived in Utah as residence for no less than three months prior to filing), then yes, you can get a divorce from your deported husband in the state of Utah, especially if he's willing to cooperate with you. Otherwise, obtaining jurisdiction over someone in a foreign country is usually quite cumbersome and expensive.

Should I get an annulment or a divorce?

Answered by attorney Anne Barbara Howard (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Anne B. Howard, A Professional Law Corporation
You probably don't qualify for an annulment. File for divorce and for a hearing on child custody child support and maybe alimony if he earns more than you. The court should consider his addiction when dealing with custody

How can I get divorced if my wife and I live in two different states?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Robert Jason De Groot (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at R. Jason de Groot, P.A.
Well, perhaps you should consult with a person who makes his living getting divorces for people. Where did you last reside together as husband and wife? That might be the place to file the divorce. Is there any chance that the wife and you can resolve all of the issues in the case? That would be the division of assets and liabilities and what to do with the children.
