How can I make sure a vehicle stays mine after divroce?

Answered by attorney Cindy S. Vova
Divorce lawyer at Law Offices of Cindy S. Vova, P.A.
Usually  property acquired during the marriage becomes marital property.  One of the few exceptions, however, are gifts acquired from a third party during the marriage.  In this case, just make sure that your parents keep the records from the purchase showing that their funds were used for the purchase, and make sure that the vehicle is in your name alone.  Also, if you are going to have make payments on the vehicle, I'd suggest that  your parents make the payments at least until the divorce is final so there is no issues that marital funds were commingled. Enjoy the ride. Cindy S. Vova Law Office of Cindy S. Vova, P.A. 8551 West Sunrise Blvd., Suite 301 Plantation, FL 33322 954-316-3496 info@vovalaw.com

How long does it take to get served divorce papers after the petition has been filed?

Answered by attorney Sabina Tomshinsky
Divorce lawyer at Home Town Law, P.A.
The summons has to be issued by the clerk and then the entire divorce package gets forwarded to the Sheriff's Office for service with the requisite fee. It depends on whether this is all done by mail or whether you will handle it all in person.
