Does divorce paper expires?

Answered by attorney John F Brennan (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Musilli Brennan Associates, PLLC
I still cannot understand your question totally, but an action can be dismissed by a failure to serve the summons and therefore its expiring, or can be dismissed for no progress by the Court. Without reviewing the file it is impossible, on the facts you provided, to give you detailed advice. The file in the courthouse would have to be reviewed. Read over carefully whatever documents you have in front of you, you may find that your answer is on them.

When does alimony payments start?

Answered by attorney John F Brennan (Unclaimed Profile)
Divorce lawyer at Musilli Brennan Associates, PLLC
Generally, you cannot be in contempt of a court order which has not been entered. As a practical matter however you shouldn't start making the payments as quickly as possible so that you don't end up with a major arrearage, especially given your knowledge that the obligation will commence on April 15. Make an estimated payment and account for it later after the actual order is entered.
