What are my daughters rights if caught shoplifting?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
She has the right to retain an experienced attorney. You were OK with her going to the store without you. So, the police, prosecutor and judge don't see any reason that you need to be contacted before they speak to her. If she cannot make decisions for herself, because she has some mental infirmity, then she should not have been allowed at the store by herself.

You are probably going to have to pay the towing charge and impound fees to get your car out of impound and get your personal items back.
