What type of punishment do I have?

Answered by attorney Mark R. Thiessen
Criminal Law lawyer at Thiessen Law Firm
You have a Class B Misdemeanor. Punishable up to 180 days in jail and a $2K fine. It could also result in the loss of your license. Better hire the best criminal lawyer you can afford. We charge around $4-5K for those cases.

If a store decides to drop my theft charges will this still show up on my record?

Cynthia Russell Henley
Answered by attorney Cynthia Russell Henley (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Cynthia Henley
It is not up to the store on whether charges are dropped, although the CEO's request for dismissal would likely carry great weight. If find it very odd to believe that the store would recommed dismissal, though. That is not the norm at all. If it is dismissed, to get the charge off your record you would need to hire a lawyer and file a petition for expunction in civil district court.
