If subpoena was posted to my door, and not hand delivered do I still have to go?

No, but you should be prepared to have law enforcement show up at work or church. Be careful when you play with law enforcement, because they know how to play also.

What happens if you're late paying fines and court costs?

Answered by attorney Charles D. Scott (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Law Offices of Charles D. Scott PLLC
You can be found to be in violation of probation if the fines and costs were a condition of probation and you have not paid them when they were ordered to be paid.  You could file a motion with the court for additional time to pay fines and costs then set a hearing on the motion and tell the court your reason for needing more time. The court may be willing to offer you a payment plan. It is best not to sit by and let more time pass and not pay the fines and costs, better to tell the court you are having trouble paying and ask for more time.

What is the statute of limitations on passing a worthless bank check ($7.61)?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney L Mark Dachs (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Dachs Law Firm, P.A.
Presently, passing a worthless check under $150.00 is a first degree misdemeanor under F.S. 832.05, and the statute of limitations is 2 years under F.S. 775.15. The statute of limitations is not the issue if the State filed charges within two years of the writing of the worthless check. The issue is more likely one of your constitutional rights to speedy trial, which will in turn depend on the efforts the State made to locate you, the current availability of witnesses who could assist in your defense, etc. I suggest you contact a lawyer, who hopefully should be able to convince the State Attorney to simply dismiss this case.
