What can I do if I am charged with shoplifting for the first time?

Answered by attorney Patrick Owen Earl
Criminal Law lawyer at Patrick O. Earl
Are you saying that you have already been convicted? Or were you asked to pay a civil fee for the store you were in and you still have court to go to? If the case is still pending get an attorney to help you at least keep it off your record. Maybe payment of the civil penalty could be in the mix to settle you matter out of court.

Is there a way to turn over a rape conviction if pleaded?

Jared Clayton Austin

When that many years have passed since the convictions, his time period for appeals will have long since expired. Absent any new evidence that would prove his innocence or the guilt of someone else, it is unlikely for him to get any relief after this many years. The Court does that to encourage people to file timely appeals.

It varies based on the location and experience of the attorney. It is worth interviewing a few and hiring one you are comfortable with.
