Hello, I recently found out that a warrant was put out for me and wanted to find out if their is a limitation on the time period.

David B Harrison

Criminal Law lawyer at Miller & Harrison, LLC
Even if thee is a process for the warrant to become inactive, the case itself will still exist until it is resolved. It would definitely be best to try to get it taken care of. You may have to turn yourself in to the jail and post the bond on the warrant, or the court might allow you to show up and they would quash the warrant and put the case back on the docket to get it resolved. You could call the court clerk of the court that issued the warrant and see if they have a process for that. Of course, the easiest thing would be to hire a lawyer who practices int he court that issued the warrant and see if they can work things out for you.

Would incorrect addresses have an effect on an illegal intercourse case?

Answered by attorney Terry Alan Nelson (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Nelson & Lawless
Would incorrect addresses have an effect? If court notices or filings were not sent to correctly, nor received by you, you could miss a court date. And, if the prosecutor files in the jurisdiction of the listed address, then finds later you were giving false information to law enforcement. Those issues are the least of your worries. Focus on defending the criminal charges. If you don't know how to represent yourself effectively against an experienced prosecutor intending to convict, then hire an attorney who does, who will try to get a dismissal, charge reduction, diversion, program, or other decent outcome through plea bargain, or take it to trial if appropriate.

My son received his 2nd MIP ticket in Colorado, will he lose his license?

Gregory Charles Graf
Answered by attorney Gregory Charles Graf (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Bertram & Graf, LLC
The statute says that he will lose his license but, it can be avoided through the plea bargaining process. There are a number of plea bargains that can be reached that will avoid this outcome. Further, some jurisdictions will not report the case to DMV. I suggest you hire counsel to help you through this process.
