Can I still drive if my license was not suspended?

If you had a DWI in Texas and your privilege to drive was suspended in Texas, then you are likely to have a suspension on your OK license because of reciprocating laws. And, you are supposed to get a Texas license within 30 days of moving here. So, if you get caught driving and your privilege to drive is suspended anywhere, you could be in trouble. You need to straighten up your license before you drive. Contact DPS on how to proceed.

What will happen if I did not pay my fines or go to my court date?

If you have a court date and do not appear the judge will usually issue a warrant for failure to appear. They usually won't come looking for your but if you get pulled over for a traffic violation the officer will run your driver's license and discover the warrant. The best thing to do is to go to the court and ask to appear at the next available time, then explain to the judge what happened. They appreciate honesty and appearing on your own.

What happens if I get pulled over and have a suspended license?

Answered by attorney Philip Daniel Hache
Criminal Law lawyer at Law Offices of Phil Hache
If your license is suspended and you get pulled over, there will likely be charged with VC 14601, or one of it's subsections. The specific charge would depend on why your license is suspended. For instance, if your license was suspended for a DUI conviction, the charge would be VC 14601.2. Then penalty can also differ depending on the exact charge, but can include mandatory Jail time. In short, if you have not been pulled over and charged with driving on a suspended license yet, don't risk it. It is not worth the risk. If you have been charged, I would recommend speaking to an attorney about your case in order to potentially get the charges dismissed or mitigate consequences.
