I would recommend contacting the State Attorney's Office. Only the State Attorney's Office can file criminal charges against someone.

What are the legal consequences for a 16 year old to runaway from home for less than 24 hours?

Answered by attorney Lawrence Lewis (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Lawrence Lewis, P.C.
Either the child is a runaway or not a runaway. PERIOD Of course, the police would begin searching as soon as they receive the information. The child would end up going to court at some point and receiving counseling.
