Can police show a search warrant after they search the house?

The police can come to a house, enter for one reason legally but develop another reason to search so they have to get another or a search warrant.

What can a person caught smashing mail boxes get charged with?

Answered by attorney Steven Joseph Pisani (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at The Law Offices of Steven J. Pisani, LLC
It depends on what you mean by mail boxes. If you mean the boxes that out in front of people's homes, that would probably be a criminal mischief charge, a misdemeanor offense in state County Court. If by mail boxes you mean the public boxes that mail is sent from, that is federal property and could be charged as a federal crime.

Should I take a plea if the DA doesn't have any proof?

Answered by attorney John F Brennan (Unclaimed Profile)
Criminal Law lawyer at Musilli Brennan Associates, PLLC
I would need more details and an opportunity to assess the demeanor of the various parties, but, judging from what you have presented, I would tend to attempt to defend the case seeking a full dismissal. After all, if you plea you are guilty anyway.
