Answered by attorney Philip Boardman (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Haven Law Group, P.C.
You should look at filing a ch. 7. This will discharge the debt and allow you to get your license back if you have lost them. It will be on your credit report, but you can rebuild over the next 2-3 years.

How long does bankruptcy protection last?

Only debts incurred prior to the bankruptcy filing are dischargeable in your case. Any debt incurred after the bankruptcy case was filed is not part of the case. Typically either a payment arrangement or a settlement can be arranged. Propose a payment plan to the creditor if at all possible.

Answered by attorney William Monroe Rubendall (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at William Rubendall Attorney at Law
Debts incurred within 90 days of filing bankruptcy are presumed to be made without the intent to pay them. Debts incurred more than 90 days before can be nondischargeable if there was no intention of paying them, such as charging up on your credit cards.
