Does a minor have to repay debt he acquired before he was 18?

Answered by attorney John Hanna Sibbison (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at John H. Sibbison, III Professional Law Corporation
In this scenario, the minor may be able to avoid responsibility on a statute of limitation defense if the creditor has not filed a lawsuit within 4 years of the breach (provided that no payments were made in the interim which would start the statute running all over again).

Shortsale after foreclosure and after chapter 7 discharge how long do we have to wait to get a mortgage?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Kenneth Love (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Love and Dillenbeck Law
The real estate agent wants you to do a short sale so she can get a commission. There is no benefit to you doing a short sale at this point, unless the mortgage company will pay you money to do so.

Can my wife co-sign for a used vehicle for me if she is in bankruptcy?

default-avatar
Answered by attorney Ronald Karl Nims (Unclaimed Profile)
Bankruptcy lawyer at Ronald K. Nims
How bad is your credit that you need someone who's in bankruptcy as a cosigner? That's like asking for handouts from a guy sleeping under a bridge. Maybe you should skip getting a new car for now, sounds like going further in debt is the last thing you need. But to answer your lame question. If your wife is in Chapter 7, she can cosign; if she's in Chapter 13, she can't.
