How soon after we walk away from a mortgage that was not reaffirmed in Chapter 7 can we qualify for another mortgage?

There is no answer to this question that will be adequate for you. Getting a home depends upon requirements of the lenders you apply to. The debt has been discharged, you do not owe it. The mortgage will show up on your credit report as being discharged.

What can I do if I got into an accident after I filed for bankruptcy?

It depends on the discharge. You really need to talk to a competent bankruptcy attorney to determine your options: dismissing, converting, re-filing - chapter 7 vs chapter 13. Many different issues depending on the facts of your case.

Support payments cannot be discharged, and if he does not pay, the bankruptcy will not protect him from filing a motion for contempt, having a hearing, and him being placed in the custody of the sheriff for up to 6 months.
