If the debt was listed in your bankruptcy and discharged, all you should have to do is send the collector a copy of your discharge order. If they persist, you should see an attorney.

Will my car and property be taken if I file for bankruptcy?

Brian W. Freeman
Answered by attorney Brian W. Freeman (Unclaimed Profile)

In a Chapter 7 bankruptcy, what you keep and what you lose depend on 1) the exemptions claimed and 2) the equity in the subject property. A bankruptcy lawyer will have to ask you specific questions to determine what you can keep and what you will likely lose.
