I did an internship with Mr. McMillen at the Starnes Aycock Law Firm. Throughout my time there, I was able to get a picture of what my life would look like if I decided to pursue a career in law. While I was shadowing Mr. McMillen, I greeted clients, attended meetings, and went to court for a case he was working on at the time. As new situations came up, Mr. McMillen explained everything thoroughly and gave advice about applying to law schools and choosing what type of law I wanted to practice. Additionally, everyone at Starnes Aycock were very friendly and open to answering any questions I had for them. I learned a lot during my time at the law firm and it confirmed my desire to continue on to law school after acquiring my Bachelor's degree.
Mr McMillen recently helped me in preparing my durable POA, health POA, living will and HIPAA waiver. He was very good @ explaining the process and discussing various scenarios surrounding the various options presented in each POA (power of atyrney).
I contacted this firm, and was assigned to this attorney, because I needed to update my will. Mr. McMillen was very helpful and very thorough, being sure to understand how I want specific small assets dispersed among several people. The level of detail he put into each document has given me peace of mind.

Mr. McMillen and ParaLegal, Kathy Harmon were excellent with advising me every step of the way with both my parents’ estates and my mother’s Trust. They even came to Hospice when my mother was unable to come to their office to finally sign her trust. They were professional and supportive at the same time. I highly recommend them!
Mr.McMillen was considerate in discussing my case and what I asked was explained clearly, but as a non lawyer myself with a complicated case I have no reference point about whether the time he spent was warranted. But he seemed to be very thorough which is good. Likewise, from a business point of view, I have no idea about how "trustworthy " he is since this is our first job. But let us hope the future brings many years of successful relations.
