I would say Cordell and Cordell is good at EXCUSES! In my experience attempting to use Cordell and Cordell was a waste of my time. The "customer" service/billing department asked irrelevant question. I was told to call at 7:55am for my "consultation" and was told I would speak to someone in the Greenwood Village Colorado office. That office did not open until 8:30am and the person who I was told was in Greenwood Village was in Omaha, Nebraska. One of the items that truly caused concern was when I was called by an entirely wrong last name. I do not have the confidence in Cordell & Cordell and would suggest those considering to read the reviews. TO JOSEPH CORDELL, it sounds like you have inexperienced people and lawyers....and either over worked or under paid (DUE TO TURN OVER and all the "NEW" PEOPLE). Being from Missouri...I feel Cordell and Cordell does not represent THE SHOW ME STATE...they showed me I should have doubt and concerns enough in the state to NOT USED CORDELL!
The amount of money paid for the services rendered were not commensurate. The attorney was more concerned with dragging out the case to excessively bill out his hours.
Very inept law firm that in my experience seems to hire lawyers that speak eloquently but don't know legal process and procedure. In my case this resulted in me paying a lot of fees and getting my case dropped based on my attorney missing an appropriate deadline. Then, they of course admit no wrongdoing and aren't willing to discount their services or compensate me at all for their mistake. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot pole.
Cordell and Cordell is a scam!! They give you false hopes, take all your money and then drop you as a client. Worst law firm I have ever seen!
Hiring Cordell and Cordell was the worst mistake of my life. I paid them a $2,650 retainer on May 16, 2023, and by June 9, 2023, I had to fire them because they did minimal work and completely sabotaged my divorce case. Without their help, I was forced to represent myself for months, losing full custody of my kids and ending up with 50/50 custody instead. After draining my finances, they sent me a $4,000 bill for services they never provided and sent it to collections when I refused to pay for their failure. This firm is unethical, unprofessional, and a total scam—avoid them at all costs
Poor Follow up, Lack of responsibility, Lack of ability and Experience. Cordell lost the MSA they drafted, had typos in the child custody agreement and reputably lost customer statements. Lawyer reputedly dined with opposing council and frankly was too close for comfort to the opposing council.
I hired a woman to represent me in a divorce case after firing a lawyer in Greenville sc since he wasn’t doing his job I could tell he was for the woman cause the deals he said he had was 3 deals which I could tell he didn’t do his job which was to get all bank records that he didn’t so I fired him be cause to me unprofessional and worthless so I proceeded to call Cordell Cordell and got a woman named Kristen Leonard , to represent me out the gate. She was pretty good hustled. Everything else promised me I was gonna get all my stuff back which was a lot of stuff valued my guess at $20,000 plus. dollars. Upon trying to get my belongings from my ex Kristen was told my stuff was missing. Kristen did ask for it please report but I said I didn’t say it was sting just missing and Kristen shrugged her shoulders and left it at that. I have witnesses that seen my ex taking all my stuff out of the house I have have witness statements, gave them to Kristen asked for a court order to get mystuff
Don’t ever ever hire Cordell and Cordell! They have jerked my chain in every way possible! They misadvised me multiple times, never kept me updated, never would call me back after multiple requests by email , text or voicemails! They made sure to charge me every single time I sent an email or text trying to get in touch with the person that was supposedly representing me! Trying to get answers because of upcoming deadlines that were important. I left more than five messages or voicemails for Valerie Fischer to call me back. She never did once. I had temporary orders that the judge was going to sign, so many changes needed to happen. Not only mistakes and typos but verbiage that didn’t read properly. I sent my changes 1-15-24. Valerie didn’t respond till 1-23-24. She gave me one day to work out the changes with opposing counsel. Between 1-15-24 and 1-23-24, I left messages, emails, texts and still never got anything until the day before! DONT DO CORDELL EVER!
I am the full time father of three going through a divorce. We moved to Oregon from Idaho. Idaho ruled that Oregon had jurisdiction for the divorce. My ex appealed that decision and I retained this firm. They were very hard to keep in contact with and i seemed to have to suggest things to file and how to fight the appeal so that they knew what direction to take. The appeal was won however, the court didn't specify that my ex was responsible for attorney fees. My lawyer said that he would file a motion for clarification. I paid them the $5000 retainerin the beginning. They racked up an additional $12k plus in expenses in just a few months. About a month after I had last spoken to anyone about my case I saw that they still had not filed that motion like they said they would. After asking them what happened, they sent me a nasty email on how they weren't going to file anything unless I paid $2000/ month or paid my bill in full! WTF? So they refused to finish the job on the last motion.
