John J. McGovern, Jr., Esq., CPA is a law firm established in 2005 with an office in Scranton, PA. At this office location, there is 1 lawyer practicing criminal taxation, white collar criminal defense, finra arbitration and 3 other areas of law.
This guy is not only a horrible lawyer but a horrible person. He only cares about the 20 grand giesinger paid him instead of actually advocating for myself and my children. This guy couldn't even get his documents right with spellings, he had to be told by a civilian he didn't date paperwork correctly. He always had the high cocky attitude and even wrote a will behind my back without speaking to me to write it. He did it with another person against my wishes then pressured my hand to sign documents in cahoots with my grandmother all for money while I was being told Giensinger would take care of mental health after the loss of my daughter. This guy seriously has no heart, no passion for his clients, and no decency. He even tried to trick me into siging documents then taking back my paperwork not giving it to me while also taking the stuff I signed! I had to tell the receptionist I would not leave until he gave back the papers I had signed because hole didn't give me the documents.
Hired John to handle some tax issues in 2016. I paid him a $10,000 retainer.He told me that he was in contact with someone at the IRS and had a settlement worked out.I sent my check in as he told me.As time went by I contacted him to see what the status was and he replied with very short and rude comments like "no news" or "nothing new" I started getting letters again and contacted another accountant.They called the IRS to find out that there was never a settlement made. He did nothing for $10k
He was recommended, and I checked out his reviews/rating, so I called and scheduled an appointment. He was on vacation, but bc he was recommended, I scheduled for afterwards. At the meeting, he seemed to have zero patience and sympathy. Dealing with estates and trusts, I thought he would have been more compassionate. Was not the case. After the meeting, he said he'd get the ball rolling, contact myself or my mother the next day, etc. That was in October. Still no call. Unprofessional.
